2026 SFL Cheer program

Southwest Football League is the premier league cheerleading program within 

the greater Houston area, with close to 250 cheerleaders!  

 Experience with dance or cheer is not required to join the program



SFL Cheer Program Mission Statement

The mission of the SFL Cheer Program is to provide a safe, healthy and positive environment for our participants to learn the foundation of cheerleading skills, technique and spirit. We strive to promote the development of self-confidence, coordination, responsibility and teamwork. Through the accomplishment of this mission, our cheerleaders will become strong leaders and positive contributors to our community.

Important Reminders

  • SFL Cheer Camp is MANDATORY for participation-no exceptions 

Monday August 3rd - Thursday August 6th from 8:30am-12:30pm 

  • Practices begin the week of August 16th, one practice a week 
  • Football games begin early September and end in early November, cheerleaders will cheer either Friday night or Saturday morning 
  • Cheerleaders will perform at a Rice University game halftime - Saturday October 17th TBD Additional practices will be held the week of the Rice Game 
  • Mandatory Parent Meeting - Thursday April 23rd at 6:30pm in the Mark Twain Elementary School cafeteria 
  • Parents are required to fulfill a volunteer role during the season

  • Varsity Uniform: approx: $250-$300
    • Includes: Top, Skirt, Red/Blue Poms, Personalized Bow
  • Other One Time Expense: $125
    • Cheer Bucket, Pink Poms, Personalized Water Bottle

  • April 23rd - Mandatory Parent Meeting

  • April 30th & May 1st - Uniform Fittings 3:30 to 7:30pm 
  • August 2rd - Packet Pick Up & Uniform Payment Due (4:00 to 6:00pm)
  • August 3rd - August 6th  Mandatory Camp 8:30am to 12:30pm 
  • August 16th week - practices begin 
  • October 17th - Rice Halftime Performance Game (Kickoff TBD)
  • November 8th - Cheer Banquet 5:30pm
